The team is led by architects Cesar Becerra, Fernando Puente Arnao & Manuel de Rivero.
Since its founding in 2005, they have worked in several projects, deserving awards and recognition by international journals like Dwell, Mark, A+U, PLOT, Elle Decor Japan, C3, AV Proyectos, etc. In 2007, 2G Dossier (Spain) considered them among the 30 emergent studios from Iberoamerica, in 2013 they were selected for the III Latin American Architecture Biennale in Pamplona, while in 2014 were nominated for the Iakov Chernikhov Prize in Moscow. Their main projects are residential buildings like Infinium Golf and Chiclayo 862, Multivacaciones travel agency, Mistura food fair, restaurants IK and Astrid&Gaston Casa Moreyra, hotels NM Lima and Gran Condor Quito (Ecuador), houses like Pachamanca and Serpiente (nominated for Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize) and their participation in the Peruvian Pavilion at 13th Venice Biennale. Although their major success until now is the first prize in the international competition for the extension of Medellin Museum of Modern Art in Colombia, currently under construction and expected completion for September 2015.
51-1 is one of the studios that make up collective Supersudaca (www.supersudaca.org) having bases -in addition to Peru- in Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Curacao, Belgium and the Netherlands. As members of Supersudaca they cooperate actively in research, workshops, lectures and design projects all over the world, getting important recognitions like First Prize in the IV Iberoamerican ArchitectureBiennale (2004) for the research on Lima's Experimental Housing Project (PREVI), or the Best Entry Award at II International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam (2005) for the study on Massive Tourism impact in the Caribbean. In 2009, ICON magazine considered them among `the 20 architects that will change the future'.
