ALADO
Miraflores, Lima (2019-2020)
Restaurant

After Cosme’s success, chef James Berckemeyer comissioned us to renovate a house next door (‘al lado’) for a new restaurant concept based on charcoal-grilled dishes on high-temperature Josper ovens. The design revolves around the idea of being aware of what is aside, close, next to...the idea of vicinity. The building plays with the intimacy of seeing the neighbors’ clotheslines, of peeking through blinds, of indiscreet glimpses. For that, a series of filtering devices are used to create a diverse array of spaces with depth and proximity: fabrics, vegetation, grills, mirrors, bottles, etc.
