El Calado
Ancon, Peru (2012)
Competition Schematic Design, in collaboration with RE
We were invited to submit a proposal for a
residential building with twelve apartments in the traditional beach resort of
Ancón, north of Lima. Ancón has been the Peruvian architectural testing ground
throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. Intimidated by the challenge to add
something new to such an amazing collection of buildings, for our design we
opted to draw the best ideas from all of our favourite examples from the area. By
doing so, we were left with a combination of criteria: bedrooms with sea
view, living-rooms with double views, terraced balconies, individualized
dwellings and sophisticated facades for shading.
